Getting Started with Surveyor--A Guide for the Novice User
1. How To Use This Guide
This guide is intended to get the new user of Surveyor running as
quickly as possible, as well to act as a refresher for the occasional
user.
Look through the description of each section below, and select the
sections which look like they will be of the most use to you.
This section briefly describes the concepts and definitions important
to Surveyor. If you are a first time user, or have trouble understanding
some surveyor concepts or terminology, you should start here.
For example, what is meant by a world as opposed to a
state.
This section takes you through all the essential parts of Surveyor,
from how to start it from the command line through defining your
surveyor world, to making your
first animation.
The command reference is a comprehensive description of the buttons
and menus in Surveyor and what they do. This is a good section in
which to look when you have specific questions about the interface. If
you are a novice user, you should see
Running Surveyor first.
