About Zareh Gorjian

Zareh implemented all of the Quick View renderers for Surveyor (wireframe and SGI renderers), as well as the display interface used for displaying images. Zareh joined JPL and the Surveyor team in the summer of 1990, after receiving a B.S. in Computer Science from California State University Northridge. He worked on Surveyor full time until September, 1993, and has continued to contribute on a part-time basis while working on other projects and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, which he received in December, 1994. For both his B.S. and his M.S. degrees, Zareh specialized in computer graphics.

Prior to working at JPL Zareh worked at The Software Toolworks where he was a part of the team that developed the Miracle Piano Teaching System for the Nintendo. He developed graphics for an artificial intelligence system designed to help people learn to play the piano.

He is currently involved in designing and implementing third generation animation and rendering software for the Digital Image Animation Lab (DIAL) at JPL. He was most recently a part of the team which produced animations for the IMAX movie "Destiny In Space."

In addition to his academic and professional involvement with computer graphics he engages in the artistic pursuit of the subject at home. When Zareh is not transforming polygons, he is transforming coins and other objects as a magician.
