The cinder cones of
Mauna Kea

Mauna Kea is the third oldest volcano on the island of Hawai'i and is distinctive in that the slopes of the volcano are covered with small cinder cones. This view is from off the central east coast of the island and looking due west. The peak in the left background is Hualalai. To the left of Mauna Kea is the Humu'ula Saddle between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.
