Thematic Mapper False Color Composite

This image is a false color composited of the three channels of the thematic
mapper scanner mounted on the Landsat 4 and 5 satellites. It is called
"false color" because the red, green, and blue triplet which make up this
rendition do not correspond to what human vision sees in the red, green, and
blue electromagnetic spectrum. Thematic Mapper (TM) band 7 (2.08µ -
2.35µ) is used as the blue channel. TM band 3 (0.63µ - 0.69µ)
is used as the green channel, and TM band 4 (0.76µ - 0.90µ) is used
as the red channel. This band combination portrays vegetation as shades of
red, urban areas as cyans, and soils/rocks as shades of blues, yellows and
browns. The image has been contrast enhanced using a gaussian stretch with a
sigma value of 2.5 and a light high pass filter applied to bring out detail.
