Thematic Mapper Pseudo Natural Color Composite

This image is a pseudo natural color composite of the first four channels
of the thematic mapper scanner mounted on the Landsat 4 and 5 satellites.
It is called "pseudo natural color" because the red, green, and blue
triplet which make up this rendition do not correspond exactly to what
human vision sees in the red, green, and blue electromagnetic spectrum.
Thematic Mapper (TM) band 1 (0.45µ - 0.52µ) is used as the blue
channel. TM band 3 (0.63µ - 0.69µ) is used as the red channel.
The green channel is made up of combining TM band 2 (0.52µ - 0.60µ)
and TM band 4 (0.76µ - 0.90µ) in a ratio of 85% of band 2 and 15%
of band 4. The effect is to boost the green slightly to give vegetation a
more realistic look. This is a very subjective method and does not work
very well in an area like this due to it's arid nature. The image has been
contrast enhanced using a gaussian stretch with a sigma value of 2.5 and a
light high pass filter applied to bring out detail.
